Description
"Bokosuka Wars is a 1983 action-strategy role-playing video game developed by Kōji Sumii and released by ASCII. This classic game takes you on a real-time battlefield journey where your task is to lead an army in phalanx formation against overwhelming enemy forces, while simultaneously freeing and recruiting soldiers. Bokosuka Wars is renowned for laying the foundations for the tactical role-playing game genre in Japan, with its unique blend of role-play and strategy game elements. With its chess-like units, the game is a prototype real-time strategy game, and a unique reverse tower defense game. In this game, victory is calculated automatically based on the offensive strengths of the units. The ultimate goal is to keep King Suren alive and defeat the enemy castle, leading to the triumph of your forces.
Game Controls
In Bokosuka Wars, the player controls three chess-like units: the King, Knight, and Pawn. The D-Pad is used to move King Suren and his army in the desired direction. Knights are used to free captive soldiers by breaking the gates in front of them. In the Famicom version, allies are acquired by bumping against trees, cacti, rocks, and walls using King Suren.
